your download speed is typical of a 20mb service, and virgin broadband used to be ntl. but before ntl, it was telewest for uk north, and ntl for uk south. i've been a virgin media customer on and off since the late 80's, when it was called videotron.

i had the 50mb service installed on wednesday. it's pretty sweet so far!

With Medal of Honor 2010's official release just 6 weeks away, famed ex-SAS vet Chris Ryan has announced he'll be writing a book which will tie directly into the game, detailing the events immediately preceding the game's storyline. Those of you interested can get the novel bundled with every pre-ordered game from HMV stores in the UK. It'll also be sold separately.

Speaking about the project, Ryan said "Bringing together the disciplines of literature and videogames has been a new but compelling experience for me as a writer, resulting in what is hopefully an engaging read for fans of videogames and novels alike."

i don't think they can afford to without upping the line rental. and they've just started a new campaign bragging about how their line rental is the cheapest.

virgin could easily become the uk's primary isp. they've got 100mb lines going national by the end of this year, already provide a competitive adsl service, and are making good progress developing broadband tech for the countryside. bt have said they're not interested in investing in rural broadband because they don't see the profit in it.

virgin were also testing 200mb last year, and i'd estimate we'll get that between q4 2011 - q4 2012.

don't forget tar, the rest of the world is ahead of us for broadband speeds. 100mb residential lines are mainstream practically everywhere except here. afaik, virgin media have only recently started trials for 100mb in purpose built housing estates. and don't expect bt to attain 50mb any time soon, and that's using their new over budget and overdue "21st Century Network."
